Tea On Tuesday

Tea this Tuesday, 30th. of November is special. It marks the end of 'Movember'. Through out the month of November all men Australia wide are encouraged to grow a moustache , and in return sponsors support them by making a monetary donation, this money goes to charities that support mens health i.e. Beyond Blue ( a mens charity for mental health ) and prostate cancer. My husband's work held a morning tea to celebrate the end of 'Movember ' so I made blueberry muffins for him to take along. This is a favourite recipe given to me by a Canadian friend , the best part is when you take them out of the oven and they are still warm, you dip the top of them in a mixture of melted butter and lemon juice and then dip them in sugar....delicious.

Left-Overs.........

What do you do with all your left -over bits and pieces ? Bits of paper, punched borders, embellishments made but not used, experiments, cut out shapes and flowers too pretty to throw away ? I keep them, thinking well I might need that one day. Now if I was really honest I would admit that I don,t really think that because I know there is gorgeous new stuff coming out every day, and of course I,m going to use that before any old scraps I have hanging around. So, what I have started to do is fill up an old book with pages made from scraps...... literally a "scrap" book. Here's a page I made the other day, and the few bits and pieces I started with.

Tea On Tuesday

Before we have tea I have to share my joy of finally being able to pick blooms off my lilac bush, a small thing I know, but we planted this bush 6 years ago ! It has never had a flower on it........we have been in a drought for the past 5 years. This year we have had above average rains and this lilac is a mass of flowers, as is the whole garden. Here, in Australia we never, ever take the gift of water from above for granted, it is such a precious commodity.

Tea today is Russian Caravan and it is made in the 'happiest' tea pot ever. Happy for two reasons; 1. it is bright yellow with pretty sprigs of flowers all over it and is shaped a little bit like a pumpkin, it has a mesh container that holds the tea leaves that sits on the rim under the lid, so you don't need to use a strainer and is simple to clean and it pours beautifully, and 2. it was bought for me by my gorgeous daughter that lives in Melbourne who I don't get to see nearly enough of, but was home for a visit last weekend. She purchased it at the fabulous T2.
With my tea I'm having crumpets with Mulberry Jam, bought from the old, quaint and beautiful Currant Shed at Hoffmann's winery in McLaren Vale..........whole fat, juicy mulberries suspended in a sweet, luscious syrup. If you would like to share your tea on Tuesday with us visit Kimmies' blog.
