Lets Get Shabby Challenge #38

Challenge #38 is up at Lets Get Shabby
How creative can you be with the topic of "windows and/or doors"?
I know there are some of you out there who could "smash" this theme, so come on, give it a go......the 'door' is wide open for interpretation.
I would never normally do 2 pages, but along with being inspired by beautiful products and different techniques I really try hard to come up with a page that's expressive of my personality, or interests. I know "traditional" scrapbooking is meant to be about preserving memories or events but it can be so much more. Just as you can be creative with papers, embellishments and techniques you can also be creative with 'ideas'.
Anyway, I felt the idea of  my first page was a bit too obvious, so I made a second page where the concept is  much deeper, but perhaps a bit too "dark" to be considered "shabby".
We'd love you to play along this month; you can get all the details here

Thanks so much for visiting me today, I hope you have a productive and creative week what ever you're doing. xx

Coffee Page......

Back in July I played along on a Russian challenge blog called Paperdvizhnik: they have great sketches, an inspiring DT, and this month "local girl" Louise Nelson is their guest designer, yah Louise !!
Here's the sketch.

Any way I compiled a simple page about one of my favourite things; coffee. I love the smell of it, love drinking it, love making it at home, love coffee shops, love coffee machines, love buying different coffee beans and trying different flavours, I love the whole coffee culture.

I think coffee beans are like little, dark gems, hence the use of some "bling" bits.

The feather, that just happened to be the right colour, is a bit of whimsy, representing the lovely coffee aroma wafting up from the cup.

The drops and dribbles are actually coffee.........I know it's not strictly a " legitimate scrapbooking"  medium, not acid free and all that, but it is only a photo of a cup of coffee.
Anyway, Friday tomorrow, enjoy your week end whatever you're up to and thanks for dropping by.

Lazy Sunday

Do not pursue spectacular deeds.
What matters is the gift of yourself,
the degree of love that you put into
each one of your actions.

CSI Challenge.....we miss you.

This is a page created for the current CSI Challenge.....find all the details here.

The Testimony for this challenge needed to be about childhood and friendship. The photo I've used was taken back in 1994 ( I have edited it to give it a more "vintage" look )and in the photo are my 2 daughters and some of their closest friends, sitting on the step of the shack just being silly. Every school holidays for many years we would spend our summers at Wallaroo Beach, each family renting a shack, and spending blissful days together playing, swimming, running through the sand-hills, fishing, and crabbing and having the best summer fun. They are days that will never be forgotten by either the children or the adults. This group of friends are all in their early 20's now, but very sadly, one of the children in this photo is no longer with us.

The evidence I'v used is 1. Distressing, I've tried to create the look of a very old pin up board. 2.  Dripping. 3.  4 Patterns : Stripes ( the journal paper ), polka dot, gingham, and floral. 4.  Metal and 5.  Brads.

MATERIALS USED: Paper=Glitz, French Kiss, the girls paperie, Vintage Whimsy, Kaisercraft, Miss Match Collection. Tim Holtz
Metal Ornate Plate. Unity Stamps and Distress Inks.
Thank you so much for visiting me today, have a great weekend. xx
