I have confessed in the past to not being a 'card maker' or enjoying making cards, but have to admit to thoroughly enjoying the process of this one, created for Mixed Media Place. Of course Spring is in the air in the Northern hemisphere, so this is a card to celebrate Spring, but at the same time a 'cheer me up' card as we, in Australia are about to start Winter and, also, I have just completed a 'gloomy' journal page so needed to work with colour and flowers and create something "pretty".
The background is Distress Ink that has been water misted and a Finnabair Doily stamp that has been embossed. In fact the front of the card has a total of 5 different Finnabair stamps on it.
Some small blossoms, also coloured with Distress Ink and other textural elements.
Inside is more Distress Ink, a little bird cut from a paper serviette and that beautiful doily stamp again.
See HERE for complete list of materials used.
All inks and stamps are available from Mixed Media Place

ReplyDeleteI dont like cards either, but working on a smal space can be fun. So now I make 6x4 (or 3x4) cards and use them in albums :) I love your card! So much to see and offcourse the rich colors !! I am a fan of all your work, always!
ReplyDeleteAlways such divine texture. I love your backgrounds - so many layers and so much interest. And your choice and mix of colours is always rich and gorgeous. Beautiful card.
ReplyDeletewow - that is stunning.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, gorgeous card!
ReplyDeleteYes can't say I a big card maker either, don't see the point in making something that may end up in the bin "gasp". Gorgeous card Gayle and I hope the person who receives it will love it just as much as you did making.
ReplyDeleteI follow MMP blog avidly & saw this gorgeous creation!! I also hate to make cards generally - just because they seem pretty pointless. But you did a great job! And I'd really like to make more to send out to my artistic friends as a gift.
ReplyDeletewow! it's not a card, it's really a pice of art!
