Sharing a project today for Meg's Garden. Recently, Meg supplied me with a pack of different sized tags, so, I combined these with some of the left over paper scraps from other projects......this is the beauty of these wonderfully patterned and detailed papers; even tiny pieces make a statement and can be put to good use.

Lets Get Shabby Challenge #40 "Summer Heat"
The new challenge at Lets Get Shabby has a 'summer' theme and a colour palette. Pop over here to get all the details and to play along.
I've chosen the colours white, sand and coral, and I've tried to portray how the intense heat in Australia bleaches and drains the colour from every thing exposed to it, creates a 'hazy' atmosphere and every thing is left faded and brittle.

Scrap Friends: Sketch Challenge #6.....B Free
I have just discovered Scrap Friends and immediately fell in love with this sketch. This is their Sketch Challenge #6. They also have a separate Colour challenge.
Another photo taken in Thailand. My daughter, Lani, setting the little birds free. Giving the birds their freedom will ( supposedly ) bring you luck, well, even if it doesn't it has to feel good.
I've been playing again with image transfer. Having always been a big fan of rub ons I guess this is a natural progression. I love the choices it allows, I enjoy the actual process and I love the subtle effects it can create.
I have also used a beautiful Dusty Attic Chipboard 'Leafy Stem' but in the 'negative'. Drawn around the stems and painted them in, traced around the leaves onto Japanese Origami paper and cut them out individually and then glued down.
I tried an image transfer onto a PinkPaislee Artisan Element not really knowing if it would work or not, but it did, and then, just because I love them I added a rub on over the top and some extra colour.

Spring Clean
Spring is here so I've had a clean up. I've thrown off the dark and heavy winter coat, and put on a fresh, clean, lighter one.
I have Emma Stafrace to thank for helping me with this make-over, what a beautiful, clever and patient girl she is. It was so much fun........big hug for you Emma.

CSI + Once Upon A Sketch Challenge
This is the September challenge #4 at Once Upon A Sketch and CSI challenge #39. Two great challenges rolled into one !
What I really loved about creating this page was having fun with making the mixed media background. There is an image transfer using Gel Medium. There are two different stamps using 3 different inks. There's embossing, there's masked images using Pastels and there are Distress Stains for some bolder colour.I'm really happy with the subtle details these layers create.
Evidence here of leaves and the use of pastels.
More evidence....a bird and a rub on
One of the journalling prompts was to write on the photo and these were my thoughts.
This photo was taken by my daughter in Thailand earlier this year. I think it's amazing but it made me think that sometimes we can be so involved in things that we begin to feel smothered and need to find our own piece of space to breath again and grow.
Thanks for dropping by today. xx
