CSI Challenge.....we miss you.

This is a page created for the current CSI Challenge.....find all the details here.

The Testimony for this challenge needed to be about childhood and friendship. The photo I've used was taken back in 1994 ( I have edited it to give it a more "vintage" look )and in the photo are my 2 daughters and some of their closest friends, sitting on the step of the shack just being silly. Every school holidays for many years we would spend our summers at Wallaroo Beach, each family renting a shack, and spending blissful days together playing, swimming, running through the sand-hills, fishing, and crabbing and having the best summer fun. They are days that will never be forgotten by either the children or the adults. This group of friends are all in their early 20's now, but very sadly, one of the children in this photo is no longer with us.

The evidence I'v used is 1. Distressing, I've tried to create the look of a very old pin up board. 2.  Dripping. 3.  4 Patterns : Stripes ( the journal paper ), polka dot, gingham, and floral. 4.  Metal and 5.  Brads.

MATERIALS USED: Paper=Glitz, French Kiss, the girls paperie, Vintage Whimsy, Kaisercraft, Miss Match Collection. Tim Holtz
Metal Ornate Plate. Unity Stamps and Distress Inks.

Flowers, Mists and Pot Scourers...........

A little bit of French whimsy.

A while back I made this French inspired gown for Meg's Garden all out of her beautiful summer range of French inspired papers. I had always intended to make "a head" to go with it and finally got around to it over the week end. Her head does sit nicely on the mannequin but I think, as she has been inspired by Marie Antoinette it's  better presented on a "cake plate."

The face is made from a foam ball from the craft shop. Her hair is 3 wire "pot scourers" glued and pinned to the ball and then gesso applied. I've glued fine paper to her face and then painted the features on and then sealed. Every thing is held in place by glue, Glossy Accents, pins and long bamboo skewers.

PRODUCTS USED: Foam craft ball, wire pot scourers, assorted Prima and Manor House Creations flowers,Dusty Attic chipboard foliage,Tim Holtz metal cage and wing, Meg's Garden beautiful paper lace and big Pearl Pin, assorted findings, pearls and ribbon, gesso, paint, Dylusions Ink Spray and Perfect Pearls Mists.

Thanks so much and dropping by and visiting me today. Have a great week xx

A new page.....O.U.A.S.

This is a page I've done for Once Upon A Sketch where the theme is "Friend". My journalling, which is on the back reads: 'A friend is born of many things, but the foundation is trust. A true friend is the one you can trust with your deepest, darkest secrets.'

I've turned the sketch on its side.

Apart from the theme of "Friend" and the sketch at Once Upon A Sketch I was inspired by a few other things. The papers I've used are from Meg's Garden and when I first looked at these two girls I thought how sweet and pretty, but as I studied the image for a while and their expressions, it was as if the dark haired girl was shamefully confessing to a secret, while the other was listening intently. So it is with only the closest and most trusted of friends that we confess to, or share with, our darkest secrets. I am also inspired by Finn. I can't seem to create anything now with out being influenced a little ( or a lot ) by her. Also in the back of my mind was the current movie "Snow White and The Huntsman".

Materials Used:  All paper is Meg's Garden Forget Me Not Collection 1& 2. Dusty Attic Chipboard..."Hinges", "Leafy Stem #3", "Crooked Fence", "Gargoyle". Gate is wooden Kaisercraft. Lace and gold German Scrap from Meg's Garden. Prima Valentine Vine. Glitz design Teeny Alphas. Perfect Pearls Mists and Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist. Ranger Liquid Pearls and Metal Patinas. Rustic Patina Embossing powder, black embossing powder. Distress Stains and Inks. Lumiere Metallic Rust.

Thanks for visiting me today, and have a great weekend.  xx

Lets Get Shabby Free Choice Birthday

Challenge #36 is up at Lets Get Shabby, and because it's our birthday, we're 3 years old, you can choose any challenge you like from the past 3 years.
I've chosen Challenge #7 from December of 2009 which was all about Summer in Australia.

Do you remember when you were kids and you spent the whole day at the beach; your towel got so wet it became useless and the only way to get warm before you went back in for your next swim was to lay in the warm, dry sand? Ah, so good. This is my nieces Ella and Indi and nephew Beau doing exactly that.

I've deliberately kept this page simple, using muted "beach" colours and adding texture for sand with glass beads mixed into texture paste and some embossing with Ranger weathered white embossing powder which creates a beautiful, rough "sandy" finish.

Materials Used:.....white cardstock; texture paste; dry medium glass beads; calico strips; darkroomdoor stamps; antique weathered white embossing powder; clear embossing powder; distress stains; Dusty Attic chipboard; Prima alphabet stickers.

We'd love you to play along with our birthday challenge. Get all the details here and there is a great prize as well from Purple Onion Designs
