Challenge #38 is up at Lets Get Shabby.
How creative can you be with the topic of "windows and/or doors"?
I know there are some of you out there who could "smash" this theme, so come on, give it a go......the 'door' is wide open for interpretation.
I would never normally do 2 pages, but along with being inspired by beautiful products and different techniques I really try hard to come up with a page that's expressive of my personality, or interests. I know "traditional" scrapbooking is meant to be about preserving memories or events but it can be so much more. Just as you can be creative with papers, embellishments and techniques you can also be creative with 'ideas'.
Anyway, I felt the idea of my first page was a bit too obvious, so I made a second page where the concept is much deeper, but perhaps a bit too "dark" to be considered "shabby".
We'd love you to play along this month; you can get all the details here.
Page #1 EYES
Page #2 NO COLORS
Thanks so much for visiting me today, I hope you have a productive and creative week what ever you're doing. xx
Couldnt agree more about your thoughts... definitely scrapbooking doesnt always have to be about preserving memories...but yes..also creative expression.. Love both of your pages, they say so much artistically. And totally love the line of the sepia photos along the top in the second one.. beautiful work.
ReplyDeleteLove the pop of blue against the black in the first and the surreal element in the second, Gayle!
ReplyDeleteWow these layouts are absolutely stunning!!!
ReplyDeleteWOW!! what amazing layouts these are.. so descriptive.. the first one really grabs the eye with the dynamic blue color, and the fabulous photo of the eyes.. and the second one is so deep in meaning and in its visual... well done on the challenge..
ReplyDeletehello Gayle such amazing work .... always love your stuff xoxo
ReplyDeleteno journals yet ????
wow awesome pages here Gayle, love the first one, with the colour, all the layers of elements are so well placed and gorgeous, going back to have another look :) have a great week :)
ReplyDeletethese are so fantastic and the most amazing colours!
ReplyDeleteThese are sooooooooooooooooo neat looking! So different then the normal door or window lo! Fabulous creativity!
ReplyDeletewhat a lot of memories in that song, and black and red and white, so arresting, one simply must look!
ReplyDeleteI love them both ... (And so what if "shabby" isn't "supposed" to be something or other) ... You have a real gift of expressing emotion in your pages. Usually I'm not drawn to scrap booking too much because it's so often so cheery and perfect in it's depiction of life. You aren't afraid to go deeper - and I just love that!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! who dictates what's right in scrapbooking, as Kimmie says above; you really really have a wonderful gift of expressing emotion and passion in your pages Gayle. Adore both your pages, the first one with all the teal, the wings that pull the attention to the photo, the fantastic cluster and paintwork. The second one, I say wowzer! how artistic and just fabulous! LOVE that pop of red and the rows of b&w photos at the top, the fuchsia dribble and all the washi. Have been scrolling up and down many times to soak in all the amazing details. You certainly ROCK Gayle!! xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteYou are totally on fire Gayle - your layouts are just blow me out of the water so creative and gorgeous and meaningful and and and...
