Lets Get Shabby Challenge #43

All you have to do is create a 'shabby project' based on this beautiful image below. Interpret it any way you like.

I've used some Prima Resin and letters, some Kaisercraft rubons and the "grand lady" herself is fussy cut from a collage sheet called Fantasy Lady 1062 available from Meg's Garden.

My base background is chipboard, sprayed with gesso. A technique borrowed from the super talented Louise Nelson. Added some masked, texture paste flowers coloured with Distress Stain in my very favourite shade, Peacock Feathers.

Shabby always lends itself to doilies, punched borders, muslin and sheet music paper.

A Peek at Paris

The best way to see Paris of course is on foot, and every where you go, whether it be down a narrow alleyway or along a wide boulevard, the architecture is amazing. Often spectacular, but always very beautiful.

Zeus and Zoe February Challenge

Hello. Sharing my second project for Zeus and Zoe today where the theme for this month is 'love'.

All the papers, most of the flowers, the doily and buttons are all from the Zeus and Zoe kit that can be made to order from Marivic's Etsy Store.

The photo is of a bundle of love letters, which I now have and cherish, written to my mum from my dad during the 2nd. World War while he was stationed in Britain. Two and a half years before the war ended the letters suddenly stopped. My mother was told he was"missing in action, presumed dead". His plane had been shot down, crashed in the jungle in Burma and he had been captured and imprisoned in Rangoon. For two and a half years he was a prisoner of war...I won't go into the details of that ( this post is meant to be about 'love' after all ) but, luckily he survived. When the war ended he was found, returned to Australia and reunited with mum.

They celebrated a Golden Wedding Anniversary and were devoted to each other until their passing within a year of each other.

Happy First Birthday Page Drafts

Page Drafts is turning One Year Old, and Emma Stafrace, the whizz kid behind this amazing sketch blog, invited me to the party !! 

Using the sketch above and some of my favourite mixed media, namely water colour and distress stains, I made this fun page of my daughter at a Karaoke bar.

I don't usually work from sketches, so this was a definite challenge for me to stay within the sketch boundaries, but it was so much fun and I'm looking forward to doing it a lot more.

Zeus and Zoe February Challenge

It was my turn to present the monthly challenge at Zeus and Zoe, and seeing as my birthday falls on Valentines Day, I thought I would choose the theme of "LOVE". Not very original I know, but it can be "love" of any thing from chocolate to shoes, to siblings, to granparents. Get all the details on how to play along HERE.

In my Zeus and Zoe kit from Marivic's Etsy Store was this chipboard house, begging to be decorated, so it became my little "love shack". I think all love begins at home. Home is where the heart is, and home is where everyone should feel safe and loved.

I base painted the whole house in a tinted green gesso. Added different papers to some walls and cut up a very old piece of 'playing card' paper for the roof. Made some little banners with washi tape and tooth picks, added some flowers, resin embellishments and chipboard.

I've included photos of family members peeking out of windows and also the  eyes of my much loved doll I've had forever.

A Peek at Paris

Sharing some more 'snaps' of Paris. We were there during December, a month that was pretty cold and grey, but in my eyes, a backdrop that seemed to make any colour that was around 'pop'. From cafe chairs to the rich verdigris of sculptures to the vivid, sugary sweetness of macarons.

Well, the end of another week, AND the end of the first month ! Why does time seem to be going so quickly; am I really having that much fun ?! Enjoy your weekend everyone.
