Tea on Tuesday.........in Melbourne

Last week I was lucky enough to have 7 days in wonderful Melbourne catching up with my daughter.Melbourne has a fantastic cafe / food culture. Every place you go to is busy and the competition is fierce, so the coffee and food is always innovative, edgy and excellent quality. My morning ritual would be to go to the Hot Poppy Cafe for a freshly made juice; I pretty much always had the #6.

Then I would walk down the road to this old warehouse, Auction Rooms for my coffee. Beautiful coffee that they roast on site.

Tea On Tuesday

Today I'm having tea out of a Royal Doulton tea cup. My mother passed on the tea service to me but I have never really used it because I did'nt have a teapot that went with it............ until I found this quirky little gem last week. My tea is from T2 tastea and is called White Monkey,soft,aromatic but not too "flowery". To eat I have an apricot and custard Danish, given to us on Sunday when family came for lunch. It came from the Normanville Bakery, is delicious and the last piece left.......... so down the hatch and onto the hips I guess. Tea on Tuesday

Wow,Tuesday again already and I have'nt posted anything much since last Tuesday! You must think I don't do anything except drink tea and eat bun!? life is good sometimes..... any way for morning tea today I have apple bun, not home made sadly but from a bakery chain called Bakers Delight. Their products are really delicious but the main reason I like them is because the flour they use in their products comes from a small local flour mill at Strathalbyn called Laucke established in 1899 and contains no preservatives and is GMO Free. I drink my tea "straight", no milk, no sugar but both my daughters put honey in their tea and the honey we love is from Tasmania; it's one of their most famous exports: don't you just love the tin ? Cheers.

Tea on Tuesday

This is my first time at Tea on Tuesday....well it is actually Wednesday here, but this is what I did yesterday. Goolwa is a small town very near to where I live and this cafe, the Aquacaf produces beautiful food and coffee. The coffee they use is about as local as we can get ( being rural south Australia ), obviously the beans are imported but they are roasted and blended at a small sea-side town about 250 kl south of here, called Robe. The name of the coffee is Mahalia and is very good. Of course you have to eat something with your coffee,so a small, gooy warm chocolate and almond cake went down a treat.
