Opal Magic Wax and the Colour Purple

The colour purple. It's not a colour I use a lot. This project, a little 6"x 6" cradled wooden board, was going to be coloured in greens. Plans change. Finnabair's new Opal Magic Waxes are neautral in the tin. A kind of white, creamy colour. When you apply them to a black or dark surface they "magically" become a colour. So, after painting all the metal embellishments with black gesso, I started rubbing on some wax, thinking it was Green Brocade, but it was Royal Robes, and it was beautiful.

You don't need a lot of art materials to create magic.........just some black gesso, a tin of Finnabair Opal Magic Wax and a tin of Metallique Wax.

Finnabair New Art Recipe For Prima

This months recipe includes Patina Effect Paste, Modeling Paste, Sparks Acrylic Paints, and Metallique Waxes. Each and every one of these mediums is my favourite. They individually have very unique qualities, and deliver interesting and varied visual and textural effects. I started with a plain, dull little black box.

Don't believe everything you hear or read. So, where do you find the "facts". Life is complicated and confusing enough. Politicians, scientists and the media.... Who can we trust ? It's just "messin" with my head.  The above is all true for me, but any excuse to draw a face really, and play with some colour.

Chakra Tags 4, 5 & 6.

Finding inspiration from yoga and meditation Chakras. I think at the end of last year, for me the world seemed a lot crazier than usual and very "unstable". On an Instagram post last November, not long after the great Leonard Cohan had sadly left us, I really felt  his words....... "The blizzard of the world has crossed the threshold and it's overturned the order of the soul." So, searching for alternative ways of creating personal, inner calm, I looked to yoga and meditation and their theory of internal wheels, or sources of energy,  Chakras, that correspond to the massive nerve centres and organs within our body and can effect our physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual states of being. Always a bit of a sceptic, I became fascinated. Anyway, these ideas inspired me to create some visual tags. My previous post, HERE shows the first three. Here are the next three.

Chakra No.4

The Heart

It's colour is green, and it's located within your heart. It's the centre of love, compassion, harmony and peace.

Chakra No.5

The Throat

 It's colour is blue or turquoise and is located within the throat. It's the Chakra of communication, creativity, self-expression and judgement.

Created using Finnabair new "Sparks" Acrylic Paint and beautiful Metallique Waxes.

Chakra No. 6

The Third Eye or Brow Chakra

It's colour is Indigo, and it's located at the centre of the forehead, at eye level or slightly above.This Chakra is used to question the spiritual nature of life. It is concerned with inner vision, intuition and wisdom.

Chakra Inspiration......For Finnabair CT

First post for 2017. I hope the Christmas season was a good one for you and that the start of this New Year is so far going to plan...........ah the best made plans......all those new, good intentions. Stay strong........ CHAKRA...........Sanskrit word that literally translates to wheel or disk. In Yoga this term refers to wheels of energy throughout the body. Each Chakra has a colour and is representative of certain feelings and emotions.
