Mixed Media Place.........Music Challenge

The next Summer Music Challenge at Mixed Media Place is Adele's Rolling In The Deep. See HERE for details.
I have very "literally" illustrated the lyrics "you had my heart inside your hand and you played it to the beat."

Nothing very "deep and meaningful" about my interpretation. Just a hand (drawn and water coloured) holding a heart by strings attached to it.

My favourite part of this page is the "tatood" arm, using a stamp and Masking Fluid (see previous post HERE )

As well as paper and some washi tape a Finnabair Elementals stencil "Netting" creates part of the background, and I've used it with heavy gel medium which is a little more resistant to colour than what texture paste would be and creates a more subtle pattern.

Amongst my stash of stamps I have two favourites.....I use them constantly. Both created by Finnabair for Prima; one is the Vintage Book stamp ( in red ) from the Vintage Vanity Collection and the other one is Clear Stamp #1 from the Sunrise Sunset Collection; here it's been embossed with white.
All the colour, well there are only three, plus black, comes from Ecoline water colour. The concentric circles representing "the beat" of the heart is a TCW stencil

As always I've indulged my love for fussy cutting and collage and these floral elements create the central background for the heart.

If you love this song and you would like to show us your creative interpretation of it, here is the link to Mixed Media Place - Summer Music vol. 2 - Adele
Thank you for visiting.....may your week ahead be sweet, full of love and creativity.

  4. Wow Gayle this is for certain your piece de resistance!! Remarkable!! You may have "just"drawn it but there are so many techniques & so much detail here that this wouldn't be easy for many to pull off. I love your tip about the gel medium through the stencil & will certainly remember to try that next time!
